Auge Buenos Aires Alejandro Guiggi opened this private-room pension in 2004
in a renovated apartment building near the S upreme Court. His idea was to cr eate con-
ventillo -style lodgings (Italian immigrant rooming house), to foster better understanding
of turn-of-the-20th-centur y B uenos Air es. He expanded the siz e of his small hotel in
2006. Faithfully restored details include wooden sashes on the windo ws, ceiling mold-
ings, and stained-glass details throughout the rooms and public areas. The color pattern
and antique furniture he has chosen call to mind a bordello, adding a bit of kitsch to the
complex. Many of the rooms also have balconies and French doors. Rooms are available
for the day , w eek, or month. P rices v ary, dr opping significantly the longer y ou r ent.

communal kitchen. Air-conditioning is in r ooms with priv ate bathr ooms only. Wi-Fi
access is free, but signal str ength varies. Alejandro has a smaller, similar property in the
La Boca neighborhood.
