In-Depth Information
When a single cell is selected, the word Cell and an icon of a table with a selected
cell appear in the lower-left corner of the Property inspector. You can then verify that you
have selected the correct element before you begin to adjust the attributes.
You'll merge the cells in the top row of the table to use the table header.
To merge the top row and make the new cell the table header:
1. Select the cells in the top row of the satellite_stage table.
2. In the Property inspector, click the Merges selected cells using spans button
.
The cells are combined into one.
3. In the Property inspector, click the Header check box to insert a check mark. The
text moves to the center of the table and becomes bold because this is a header
cell. See Figure 5-44.

Adjusting Row Span and Column Span of Cells
You can adjust the height and width of individual cells of a table. Row span is the height
of the cell measured in rows. Column span is the width of the cell measured in columns.
You can change the row and column spans by increments of one. For example, increas-
ing a cell's row span makes the selected cell span the height of two rows of the table. If
you increase the row span of a cell twice, the cell becomes three rows high. Decreasing
the row span removes one increment. If a cell is only one row high, decreasing the row
span does not work. Adjusting column span works the same way. Increasing the column
To change the span, right-
