Viewing Code for External Style Sheets
When an external style sheet is attached to a page, a link tag appears within the head of
the Web page and the styles are located in the style sheet, not in the head of the Web
page. External style sheets are also called linked style sheets . Link tags do not include a
closing tag or any style content information; they only convey relationship information
about the linked document. Unpaired tags, such as the link tag and the break tag, have a
closing slash as in <br />.
Link tags usually appear
only within the head
of a Web page; anchor
tags are used to create
hyperlinks in the body of a
Web page.
