Deleting Styles from a Style Sheet
Styles moved to a new external style sheet are automatically deleted from within the
page. However, when you connect an existing external style sheet to a page, you must
move all of the styles from that page to the external style sheet and then delete the styles
from within the page. Otherwise, you will create multiple sets of styles with the same
names, which can cause styles to confl ict and lead to confusion.
Leaving some styles in the internal style sheet can negate the benefi ts of using style
sheets because you don't have one centralized set of styles that is easily updated and
used throughout the site. Also, because style sheets are cascading, the styles in an internal
style sheet will override styles in an external style sheet wherever a style confl ict exists.
When you delete the internal styles from a page without connecting that page to an
external style sheet, the text and page properties return to their default formatting.
