Getting There & Away
Jadranski Put (Adriatic Hwy) connects the Bay of Kotor to Dubrovnik and to Budva. A
new highway leaves the bay at Lipci, near Risan, and connects to the main Trebin-
je-Nikšić highway. Kotor and Cetinje are linked by a narrow and precipitous but ex-
tremely scenic back road which dates back to the Austrian occupation.
There are frequent buses to Budva and Podgorica from all around the bay, with some
services heading as far as Sarajevo and Belgrade. Buses head between Kotor and
Dubrovnik twice a day, via Herceg Novi.
Tivat airport welcomes domestic and international flights.
Getting Around
A road wends its way around the entire coast, narrowing considerably between Kotor and
the car ferry and on the Luštica Peninsula. From Kotor the main road takes a tunnel and
comes out near Tivat airport. A car ferry crosses backwards and forwards between Ka-
menari and Lepetane, at the bay's narrowest point.
There are three main bus routes in the Boka. Frequent services take the coastal road
from Herceg Novi to Kotor, stopping at all the villages along the way. Buses also connect
Herceg Novi to Tivat via the car ferry and Kotor to Tivat via the tunnel.
In summer, taxi boats are a useful form of transportation, particularly between Herceg
Novi and the beaches on the Luštica Peninsula. They're easy enough to find in the busy
marinas in July and August but more difficult at other times.

It's easy to drive straight through Herceg Novi without noticing anything worth stopping
for, especially if you've just come from Croatia with visions of Dubrovnik dazzling your
brain. However, just below the uninspiring roadside frontage hides an appealing Stari
Grad (Old Town) with sunny squares and a lively atmosphere. The water's cleaner here
