GETTING TO MONTENEGRO
Airport Transfer
There are no buses from Dubrovnik Airport to Montenegro, but you should be able to pre-arrange a transfer
through a Herceg Novi travel agent or accommodation provider for about €40.
Bus
At least two buses head to Herceg Novi (€10) and Kotor (€14) from Dubrovnik bus station each day. The dura-
tion of the trip depends entirely on how busy the border is; allow two hours for Herceg Novi.
Car
The distance between the Old Towns of Herceg Novi and Dubrovnik is only 47km but the border crossing can
cause major delays, particularly on the Croatian side; to be safe, allow an hour for the crossing during the peak
season. There are worries that when Croatia enters the EU it may take even longer. There's a smaller, lesser-
known border crossing on the tip of the Preklava peninsula. We have been told that it's only supposed to be for
locals, but we've never had any problem crossing there.
Shopping
Placa is mostly lined with tacky souvenir shops; the best boutiques are down its side
lanes. Check out the morning market MAP
