Hussein Pasha Mosque
(Husein Pašina Džamija; 052-323 509; Vuka Kneževića bb) Built in 1569 and boasting the highest
minaret in the Balkans (42m), this is the most beautiful mosque in Montenegro. Its interi-
ors are unusual as they're painted with elaborate frescoes featuring geometric patterns
and floral motifs. If it's locked (as it often is), you'll get a taste from the paintings around
the entrance.
MOSQUE
Holy Trinity Monastery
(Manastir Sv Trojice) Dating from 1537, this impressive monastery occupies a sublimely
peaceful nook tucked into the hills, a kilometre north of the town. Ottoman-style build-
ings hung with flowerboxes form a backdrop to a solid church with a sumptuously
painted interior and gilded iconostasis. Behind the church a small waterfall tumbles into a
pond.
