Eating & Drinking
Žabljak's best eateries are the restaurants attached to Hotel Soa and MB Hotel.
Zlatni Papagaj
(Vuka Karadžića 5, Žabljak; mains €4-13; ) The 'Golden Parrot' has the feel of a pirate lair, with
wine-barrel tables, a wooden ceiling hung with chandeliers and a thick fug of cigarette
smoke in the air. The menu offers a crowd-pleasing selection of pizza and steaks.
PIZZERIA, CAFE
MONTENEGRIN
Konoba Luna
(Njegoševa bb; mains €2-7; 6am-midnight) The Montenegrin equivalent of a greasy spoon, this
humble cafe-bar serves good cheap meals in simple surrounds. The menu stretches from
kačamak and grilled lamb to spaghetti and omelettes.
Čudna Šuma
(Vuka Karadžića bb, Žabljak) Living up to its intriguing name (meaning 'Strange Forest'), this
cafe-bar somehow manages to be rustic and hip at the same time.

Getting There & Away
All of the approaches to Durmitor are spectacular. The most reliable road to Žabljak fol-
lows the Tara River west from Mojkovac. In summer this 70km drive takes about 90
minutes. If you're coming from Podgorica the quickest way is through Nikšić and
Šavnik. The main highway north from Nikšić follows the dramatic Piva Canyon to Šće-
pan Polje. There's a wonderful back road through the mountains leaving the highway
near Plužine, but it's impassable as soon as the snows fall.
