and Simeon (1645), on the right-hand wall, includes a border showing the construction of
the monastery (the latter saint was the founder's grandfather). Also look to the left of the
iconostasis for the icon of St Luke (by an unknown painter) depicting the apostle painting
an icon of the Madonna and Child; this is probably a reference to the famous Our Lady of
Philermos icon which now hangs in Cetinje.

Kolašin Колашин
POP 2800
Kolašin (pronounced 'ko· la· shin') is Montenegro's main mountain resort. Although the
skiing's not as reliable as in Durmitor, Kolašin's much easier to get to (it's just off the
main highway, 71km north of Podgorica) and has ritzier accommodation offerings. Like
most ski towns, it looks far prettier under a blanket of snow but even in summer it's a
handy base for exploring Biogradska Gora National Park or other parts of the Bjelasica
Mountains.
Most things of interest, including banks and a post office, are set around the two cent-
ral squares (Trg Borca and Trg Vukmana Kruščića) and the short street that connects
them (Ulica IV Proleterske).

(Zavičajni muzej; Trg Borca 1; 8am-3pm) Trg Borca contains a stirring statue of a young
man and woman marching forward, guns and communist flag aloft. They look like
they're about to liberate the museum building, which served as a prison during WWII.
Inside, the collection consists mainly of photos and there aren't any explanations in Eng-
lish, but the idealistic faces of the town's young comrades, many of whom lost their lives
fighting the Nazis, are captivating. There's also an ethnographic section and an art gal-
lery.
