Danilovgrad Даниловград
POP 5200
Little Danilovgrad, located 18km northwest of Podgorica, is worth a short stop en route
to Ostrog or Nikšić. There's a smattering of cafes on the main street, Ulica Baja Sekulića,
which runs between two attractive squares.
The one nearest the Zeta River is dominated by an impressive socialist realist monument
featuring two likely lads and a staunch woman topped by a red star. Below the monument
there's a wonderful sculpture garden featuring dozens of interesting works carved out of
white marble, ranging from the classic to the space-age.
In late August the three-day River Zeta Festival takes place featuring wooden raft and
kayak races; diving, fishing and beauty contests; and an organic-food festival.
