(Majka Tereza bb) In relatively good nick is this statue of Mother Theresa, the most famous
Albanian of recent years (although she was actually born in Macedonia), which stands in
front of the clinic on the boulevard named after her.
On the corner adjacent to the statue, there's an interesting commemorative plaque MAP

ality they have shown in sheltering and taking care of the persecuted from Kosova during
the period March '98 to June '99 - Grateful Kosovars'.

VISITING MOSQUES
Unlike in some parts of the Islamic world, respectful non-Muslims are usually welcome to visit mosques in
Montenegro, although some mosques don't allow women or have separate areas set aside for them (if you're un-
sure, ask for permission before entering). Mosques are primarily a place for prayer and most are kept purpose-
fully plain so as not to distract the faithful - so there's usually not a lot to see inside anyway. The interiors of
some are decorated with geometric patterns or Arabic calligraphy but the representation of people or animals is
strictly forbidden. What they all have in common is a prayer niche aligned at the centre of the wall facing
Mecca.
If you're keen to visit, a few protocols should be followed. Clothing should be loose and should cover the
body: shorts, singlets, short skirts and tight jeans are a no-no and women will often cover their heads. Shoes
must be removed and mobile phones switched off.
Devout Muslims are required to ritually cleanse themselves before entering for prayer, so there's usually a
fountain or tap near the entrance. Non-Muslims aren't expected to do so. Don't distract anyone praying by wan-
dering around or talking loudly inside the mosque - in fact, don't enter at all if group prayers or other commu-
nity activities are taking place.
