Bečići & Rafailovići Бечићи и Рафаиловићи
Welcome to the Benidorm of Montenegro! Like the Spanish tourist town, Bečići has been
completely swallowed by large resort complexes, complete with swimming pools,
nightclubs and casinos. If the primary objective of your trip is to flit between the pool,
pokies and sand, cocktail in hand, this is the place to do it. Just don't expect any actual
engagement with Montenegrin culture.
Bečići and its neighbour Rafailovići share a 1950m-long sandy beach immediately east
of Budva. In 1935 it won a Parisian prize and was named the most beautiful beach in
Europe, although it's unlikely to win that prize today. It does, however, have a Blue Flag
rating for cleanliness and water quality.
Rafailovići is equally built up but retains the vaguest remnants of a village feel. Older-
style apartment hotels hug the cliffs and restaurants line the shore. It's a popular spot for
families but at high tide there's hardly any beach.
During summer there's usually someone hiring jet skis, pedal boats, banana boats and
kayaks from the beach, and taxi boats ply the shore for the trip to Sveti Nikola Island. If
you fancy a spot of parasailing you'll need to keep your eyes open to watch where the
boats dock. A short ride costs around €25. If the kids are getting restless, there's a large

It doesn't have a
fancy swimming pool or a slice of beach to call its own, but this little hotel has friendly
staff, tidy rooms with balconies, and much more reasonable rates than the resorts it rubs
shoulders with.

The
rooms are luxurious, but the real star of this mammoth resort is the pool complex. Three
outdoor pools (there's another one inside) swirl around palm trees and manicured slices
of lawn leading down to the large chunk of beach that the hotel consumes. There's also a
lavish health and beauty spa and various spots to eat and drink.
