Hotel Fontana
( 033-452 153; fontana.lekic@t-com.me; Slovenska Obala 23; s/d €55/70; )
Close to the beach and
all the craziness (and noise) of Slovenska Obala in the summertime, Fontana has a
holiday-home feel and a terrace cafe for chatting with fellow guests. Rooms are smallish
but fine and most of those on the upper levels have sea views.

Hotel Max Prestige

;
Žrtava Fašizma bb; s/d/apt €75/100/118; )
If you
hadn't guessed from the name, this shiny minihotel has slight delusions of grandeur. The
exterior is a hodgepodge of pretentious turrets and pediments topped by a garish neon
sign, yet the vibe inside is smart and comfortable and we love the kidney-shaped pool
surrounded by meticulously kept gardens.

A reader alerted us to this late-night hole-in-the-wall eatery
selling pizza by the slice. We can confirm that after a hard night's 'researching' the city's
nightspots, Maradona's crispy based pizza does indeed seem to come straight from the
hand of God.
