Žanjic & Mirišta
Sitting in a sheltered cove below the olive groves, Žanjic's 300m-long white pebbly
beach attracts up to 1000 people in the height of summer. Neighbouring Mirišta is con-
siderably smaller.
Both are accessible by car but are more commonly reached by boat from Herceg Novi.
The daily Boka tours operated by Montenegro Cruising ( Click here ) stop in Žanjic for
90 minutes. Kayak Montenegro's day trips to Mamula Island stop in Mirišta.
BEACHES
Blue Grotto
(Plava Špilja) A popular cruise stop, the Blue Grotto gets its name from the mesmerising ef-
fect of the light reflecting through the clear water. Boats head into the 9m-high cave and
usually allow you an opportunity for an iridescent swim. Montenegro+ ( Click here ) of-
fers kayak tours here.

( www.almara.me ) It was perhaps inevitable that the virtually untouched paradise of green
headlands and blue waters at Trašte Bay would attract the attention of developers. Only a
few years ago there was nothing here but a beautiful stretch of rocky shoreline. More re-
cently it's been commercialised as the chic Almara Beach Club, with a restaurant, day
beds, DJs and live music - attracting a young, up-for-it crowd of sunseekers and partygo-
ers.
Yet that's nothing on what's planned - a whole new tourist town, complete with a golf
course and marina. We suggest you get here quickly before this rare coastal slice of 'wild
beauty', to quote Montenegro's tourist slogan, is gone forever.

BEACH
Pržno

to be confused with the other Pržno near Sveti Stefan). This gorgeous scallop of white
sand sits within a green horseshoe of scrub, pines and olive trees and is a definite candid-
ate for the title of Montenegro's best beach.
Most locals know this beach as Plavi Horizont (Blue Horizon) after a large package-
tour hotel which was being demolished when we visited. Its replacement, a €250-million
