In-Depth Information
Given a better precision in understanding of human negative energy needs
and with the expanding genomic understanding of crop phenotypes, we
can envision future advances in genetically characterized foods that satisfy
expanding global human needs for quality and quantity and sustain agricul-
tural ecology (see Chapters 1, 14-22).
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are already accepted in much of
the world and hold the promise to resolve much of the existing discrep-
ancies between food availability and human negative energy needs (see
Chapters 20-22).
