language in which most blog entries are made - and this is just one tiny
island of a country - which tells us that size doesn't matter in the blogo-
sphere. Also, about 10 percent of all blog entries are made in Chinese, 3 per-
cent in Spanish while French, Portuguese, Russian and Italian each have 2
percent, and German represents 1 percent of the blogosphere languages.
It may also be surprising to learn that bloggers are mostly well-educated
people with steady incomes, and a large proportion of them are quite affluent.
In fact, in the US, 74 percent of bloggers have a college degree and more than
half of them have a household income of more than $75,000. This indicates
that the stereotype that depicts bloggers as clueless teenagers is unfounded.
Table 3.1 and Figure 3.7 provide a snapshot of the global blogosphere in
2008 according to Technorati, the blog index and research company; and the
top blogging languages as published in the Club e-Luxe Quarterly .
