practices. One such network is the Authentic Luxury Network, created to
foster sustainable practices in the luxury industry. These communities, which
have a purpose, are often the propagators of social consciousness on certain
issues.
The social web allows individuality and collective experiences at the same
time. Social networks have enabled people to co-exist online even if in reality
their interaction with the web is on an individual basis as they are often alone
in front of a computer screen. The beauty of this dual manner of functioning
is that users are still able to make independent choices while drawing some of
their references from online social networks.
Social networks like Twitter, 43 Things and C Koi Ton Reve (short for
c'est quoi ton rêve , meaning “What is your dream?”) (Figure 3.14), which
enable people to “do” specific things online like following other people

recorded narration of their lifetime dreams; and 43 Things which encourages

communities will transcend moral intentions to include luxury-themed
purposes
