2.6. Elemental analysis
Elemental analysis and mass spectrometry were performed by Chemsys, Inc. at
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. A Finnegan 4500 mass spectrometer was used
to obtain mass spectra (solid state). Melting points were obtained from a
MelTemp capillary melting point apparatus and used without correction. The wa-
ter uptake of the polymers was measured by determining the weight difference of
several film samples before and after submersion in boiling water for three days.
