In the IR spectra of these resins characteristics peaks of sulfone and phosphine
oxide groups were present along with the absorption peaks of the imido group.
Characteristic thermal transitions as determined by DSC are given in Table 8.
The char yield of the cured resin (Table 9) was highest in itaconimide having
phosphine oxide and aromatic groups (IT). Presence of sulfone group at meta or
para position did not affect the char yield.
