In-Depth Information
Then Dines took over and with such a great competence taught me how to
apply mathematical modelling in computer science that this has been my main
interest since then (for more than 20 years). I must say that I was fascinated
listening to Dines' lectures where scientific pearls were interspersed with anec-
dotes. Throughout my career Dines has given me so much inspiration, challenges
and support. Indeed this has meant a lot for my career and my life.
Later, closing the circle, I had the pleasure of teaching Nikolaj, Dines son.
Thanks, Dines, for offering me to be a Ph.D. student, for recommending me to
be employed at DDC and to work on the RAISE projects, and for encouraging
me to come back to DTU. Also thanks for inviting me to write papers with
you and for sharing courses. A thing I like very much about you, Dines, is the
fatherly way that you care about your colleagues and students. You do not only
care about their careers, but also about their personal lives. Thanks, to you and
your lovely wife, Kari, for inviting me home at many occasions.
Thank you, Dines, I am deeply indebted for all what you have done for me!
