To manage the databases, listeners, and Automatic storage Management (AsM) instances on the Oracle
Database Appliance, the database plug-in needs to be deployed on the Oracle Management server and Oracle
Management Agents on the Oracle Database Appliance. The plug-in will be deployed automatically when the agent is
deployed through Oracle Enterprise Manager.

In this chapter, we discussed two methods—both configured on an Oracle Database Appliance—for monitoring the
Oracle Database. The first method uses Oracle Database Control. We discussed Oracle Database Control, including
how to configure it, manage it, and deconfigure it. The second method uses the Oracle Enterprise Manager. We
discussed how it relates to the Oracle Database Appliance, how to install management agents to enable it to monitor
the appliance, and what can be expected from using it with the appliance.
