Getting There & Away
BUS & BUSH TAXI
Rakiéta ( 90 29 88 04) runs a daily bus service between Lomé and Kara (CFA5600, 6½
hours). It leaves at 7.30am from its depot in Atikoumé. Book ahead or arrive early (6am)
on the day. This service is a better option than bush taxis.
Bush taxis and minibuses travelling east to Aného (CFA1000, one hour), Lac Togo/Ag-
bodrafo (CFA800, 45 minutes) and to Cotonou (in Benin; CFA5000, three hours) leave
from Gare de Cotonou OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP (Blvd de la Marina) , just west of
the STIF bus station.
Gare d'Agbalépédo (Quartier Agbalépédo) , 10km north of central Lomé, serves all northern des-
tinations. Services include Atakpamé (CFA3500, two hours), Dapaong (CFA8500, 10
hours) and Kara (CFA6200, five hours).
Minibuses to Kpalimé (CFA2000, two hours) leave from Gare de Kpalimé (Rue Moyama) ,
1.5km north of the centre on Rte de Kpalimé.
There are also international services (see Click here ), including to/from Ghana.
Getting Around
To the airport (5km from central Lomé) the taxi fare is about CFA1500 (but count on
CFA2000 from the airport into the city).
Taxis are abundant and have no meters. Fares are CFA350 for a shared taxi (more after
6pm) and CFA1000 nonshared. A taxi by the hour should cost CFA2500 if you bargain
well.
Zippy little taxi-motos are also popular, if rather dangerous. You should be able to go any-
where in the centre for CFA300 to CFA500.
