Getting Around
Shared taxis and poda-podas (minibuses) cost Le1000 per short hop and run on fixed
routes around town. You can also bargain for a charter taxi, which feels like the lap of lux-
ury after being squashed into the back of a shared ride with four or five others. The motor-
bike taxis, known as okadas, as they are in Nigeria, can be downright reckless: ride with
caution, or even better, don't ride at all.
