Agadir
POP 680,000
Levelled by an earthquake in 1960, Agadir rose from its ruins to become Morocco's main
beach resort, with a glitzy marina. Rebuilt into a neat grid of residential suburbs and wide
boulevards, the town feels strangely bereft of the sort of bustling life often associated with
Moroccan cities. Its lure, however, lies in its huge sandy bay, which is more sheltered than
many other Atlantic beaches.

yard. Some rooms have bathrooms, but even the communal facilities are spotless.
