Eating
Restaurant-Pâtisserie Pleine Lune CAFE $
( 574 9860; off Blvd Médian; mains UM1000-1500) We like this place for its breakfasts - decent
coffee and a good selection of pastries, but it's good at any time of day, with pizzas and
sandwiches as quick fillers, or grilled fish and brochettes (kebabs) for something more
substantial.
Restorante Galloufa SPANISH $$
) Excellent laid-back Spanish restaurant,
(

with a heavy emphasis on seafood.
Information
There are several bureaus de change along the city's main drag, Blvd Médian, as well as
two ATMs; most of the internet outlets along here also double as telephone offices.
Getting There & Away
Mauritania Airlines ( 4574 4291; Blvd Médian) flies four times a week to Nouakchott
(UM20,000, one hour), and three times a week to Casablanca in Morocco.
There are plenty of minibuses and bush taxis from the gare routière to Nouakchott
(UM5000, six hours). You can also get transport from here to Morocco (Western Sahara).
Taxis go most days to Dakhla (UM11,500, eight hours). Arrive early - any later than 8am
and you'll be facing a long wait for the vehicles to fill and go.
There is also a train that runs from Nouâdhibou to Choûm and Zouérat. The train 'sta-
tion' is about 5km south of town.
