Nouakcott has a reasonable selection of accommodation. The big news is the construction
of a five-star Rotana Hotel in the Ribat Al Bahar district, to open in late 2014.

) Well-signed on the road to Nouâdhibou. Dorms and rooms are plain, but func-
tional, and shared bathrooms are kept in good nick. Other pluses are the outdoor areas, a
kitchen for guests' use and a rooftop terrace.

haunt for backpackers and overlanders, the laidback Menata is a decent option. Good
meals are available upon request or you can use the kitchen.

) Run by the same people as the Auberge Menata, this is a lovely maison d'hôtes
(B&B). It's charmingly decorated and the garden has its own restaurant. Deservedly popu-
lar.

though it's on the main drag, this auberge (small hotel) is surprisingly peaceful and there's
a pleasant leafy garden at the front, ideal for breakfast - the front of the hotel has been
converted into the great (and fuschia-pink) Bla Bla Thé cafe. Rooms (all with bathrooms)
are good value for the price tag.
