Villa Monticello BOUTIQUE HOTEL $$$
( 030-2773477; www.villamonticello.com ; No 1A Mantaka Ave Link, Airport Residential; s/d from $295/345;
) Behind the austere khaki concrete facade hides a sleek boutique hotel. The opu-
lent rooms were designed according to themes - Soho, Coco Chanel, Last Emperor, Out
of Africa - and are furnished with exquisite taste.
Esther's Hotel BOUTIQUE HOTEL $$$
( 030-2765751; www.esthers-hotel.com ; No 4 Volta St, Airport Residential; s/d from $150/180; ) Long
one of Accra's fancier addresses, Esther's now looks a little frumpy in the face of Accra's
swanky new establishments. It's still a lovely address, though, friendly and cosy. Prices
include breakfast.
Eating
Accra has the best choice of restaurants in the country, and the food will seem like haute
cuisine if you're returning to the city after time spent elsewhere in Ghana. Osu has the
widest choice of restaurants (many cluster along the main street, Cantonments Rd, which
is universally referred to as Oxford St), but if you're not fussy you'll find the ubiquitous
chop bars everywhere around town.
You'll also find supermarkets, cafes and fast-food outlets at the Accra Mall ( Click here
).

Tucked behind a petrol station (Engen), this outdoor Indian restaurant is a gem - cheap,
delicious and with long opening hours. One of the house specialities are the dosas (savory
parcels made of rice flour normally eaten for breakfast ). Sunday is thali (set meals) day.
