Vila das Pombas
The main centre of Paúl is this pretty strip of pastel houses along the ocean. There's noth-
ing much to do here except wander, ponder the waves and visit the family-run distillery,
Trapiche Ildo Benrós (admission CVE100; 6am-7pm) , where grogue is made using the 400-year-
old trapiche (machine for juicing sugar cane). Sample drinks such as passionfruit
caipirinha under tall almond trees, as a veritable zoo of animals roams around. Look for a
small green and white sign for Trapiche Ildo Benrós along the coastal road.
