has a nice brown-sand beach around a lovely bay.

They can also arrange day trips to Santa Luzia (book ahead).
Baía das Gatas
is another popular weekend escape, 12km from Mindelo, for swimming in
its natural pools and beachfront restaurants. Near the airport is the quaint fishing village of
São Pedro, with a pretty beach and harbour.
