Getting There & Away
You will need a yellow-fever vaccination certificate to come to Burkina.
AIR
The tiny Aéroport International de Ouagadougou is Burkina's main gateway.
The main international carriers are Air France ( www.airfrance.com ) and Royal Air Maroc
( www.royalairmaroc.com ) , which offer direct flights to France and Morocco and connecting
flights to the rest of the world.
Air Burkina ( www.air-burkina.com ) , the national carrier, flies to Paris (France) as well as regional
destinations including Accra (Ghana), Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), Bamako (Mali), Cotonou
(Benin), Dakar (Senegal) and Lomé (Togo).
LAND
Burkina's land borders are open from 6am to 6pm. Crossings are generally hassle-free.
The main border points are:
Niangoloko for Côte d'Ivoire
Tanguiéta for Benin
Paga for Ghana
Sinkasse for Togo
Kantchari for Niger
Koloko or Tiou for Mali
There are plenty of international bus services from Ouaga and Bobo. Routes include:

Lomé, Togo (CFA18,000, 24 hours, two weekly; operated by TCV, TSR)

Getting Around
BUS
Buses are the most reliable and comfortable way to get around.
TCV and Rakiéta buses are better maintained and more reliable than those of other com-
panies. They also have air-con.
Buses almost always operate with guaranteed seating and fixed departure times; arrive
early or book the day before to ensure you have a seat on your preferred service.
