KOTA FALLS
Fancy a refreshing dip? Consider heading to the Kota Falls (admission CFA300) , 15km southeast of Natitingou,
off the main highway. You can swim in the pool at the bottom of the falls or just sit down and read in the cool
shade of the undergrowth. Pure bliss! Hire a zem (CFA5000 per day) to get there. Take note that it's possible to
overnight near the falls - there's a cluster of surprisingly well-maintained bungalows (room CFA10,500).

Hôtel Bellevue BUNGALOW $
( 90 92 33 69, 23 82 13 36; myriamsare13@hotmail.com; s/d with fan from CFA7500/8500, with air-con from
CFA14,500/17,000; ) Set in a rambling garden, the Bellevue is a charming collec-
tion of sweet bungalows and paillotes . Myriam, the formidable owner, runs a tight ship
and rooms are simple yet spotless, as is the food in the restaurant (much of which comes
from her vegie garden). Your host also makes jewellery, for sale at the reception. She had
plans to retire at the time of writing.
Palais Somba BUNGALOW $
( 96 27 29 51; s/d with fan CFA6500/8500, with air-con CFA12,500/16,500; ) 'Palace' might be push-
ing it a bit, but this venture is something special, blending African touches with European
levels of comfort. All the bungalows, which are arranged around a leafy compound, are
embellished with paintings made by a local artist. The garden is compact but easily one of
the nicest in Nati. There's an on-site restaurant, with a limited selection of simple dishes.
It's in a quiet area.
Hôtel de Bourgogne HOTEL $$

con from CFA18,000-25,000; ) This efficiently run hotel is a safe bet. Although not the
height of luxury, rooms are colourful, comfy, spacious and serviceable, with modern,
clean beds, and the restaurant has a reputation for fine food, with an emphasis on meat
dishes (mains from CFA4800). Hot water is available in the more expensive rooms. One
downside: the hotel is not shielded from the noise of the main road.
La Brèche AFRICAN $$

ery set in a tata somba house with superb views of Nati and the Atakora Mountains. Book
