ture has eight impeccable rooms with salubrious bathrooms. It's not on the lakeshore, but
the congenial atmosphere more than makes up for this. The ethos here is laid-back, ecolo-
gical and activity-oriented - various tours can be arranged.
Camping de Possotomé - Chez Préfet CAMPGROUND $
( 95 35 86 53; campsites per person CFA3000; ) How does watching the sun rise over Lake
Ahémé sound? This campsite, on an idyllic spot on the sandy lakeshore, is basic (bucket
showers and toilets) but very atmospheric. Prefet, the cook, will whisk up African won-
ders for sustenance (meals CFA3500).

stunning lakeside location, Chez Théo is guaranteed to help you switch to 'relax' mode. A
path through a garden bursting with all sorts of exotic trees leads to a great bar-restaurant
(mains from CFA3500) on a stilt platform with cracking views. Rooms are far from fancy
but are kept scrupulously clean. Four bungalows, including two overwater units, were be-
ing built at the time of research. All kinds of tours can be organised.
Getting There & Away
Taxis that ply the Cotonou-Hilakondji (or Comé) route will generally drop you off at the
Comé turn-off (CFA2000), from where the only option to Possotomé is a zemi-john
(CFA1000).
