17. Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor: 1.4-French ultra minia-
ture pressure transducer, SPR-671 (Millar instruments,
Houston, TX) or Codman ICP catheters (reusable).
18. Cerebral blood flow monitor: Perimed PIM3 Laser Doppler
(model PF-3 with 0.25 mm fiber separation; Perimed,
Piscataway, NJ) positioned in a stereotactic holder.
19. Arterial blood gases analyzer.
20. Computer software: The pneumatic impactor parameters and
all physiological parameters are displayed on the monitor using
the LabVIEW soft ware (National instruments corporation,
New Jersey).
21. Skin disinfectant: betadine.
22. Analgesic: buprenorphine (0.3 mg/ml).
23. Antibiotic: enrofloxacin (100 mg/ml).
