Overview
The Douglas Spring Trail is one of two long routes giving access to the west side
of the Rincon Mountains from Tucson (the other is the Tanque Verde Ridge Trail;

). Beginning in lowland mesquite forest thick with cacti and ocotillos, the
trail soon climbs up small canyons, through open grasslands, and into mid-eleva-
tion oak-piñon-juniper woodlands, providing a variety of scenery and birdlife. Many
