Nearby Attractions
In mid-winter, you might find the trail closed or impassable because of snow. Instead,
take the opportunity of a few runs at Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley (520-576-1321, skithe-
lemmon.com ), the southernmost ski area in the United States. Admittedly, the one
good chairlift provides access to just 22 shortish runs, but it's fun and, by skiing
standards, not expensive ($40 all-day admission for adults; various discounts avail-
able). The season, limited by snowfall, varies from a couple of weeks to a couple of
months—check the website. During the summer, the lift becomes a Sky Ride ($9 for
adults), with round-trip views in all directions. In October, Ski Valley holds an Okto-
berfest, with oompah music, German food and beer, and golden fall views.
