Old Faithful Village
After you turn toward Old Faithful Village, the second
turn to the left takes you to a fully equipped service station, where car repairs and towing are
available; a general store with small restaurant; and the Snow Lodge with its restaurants and
associated cabins (open in winter as well as summer). The last curve on the access road leads
to the Old Faithful Lodge (including a cafeteria and cabins) and the East Parking Area, the
place to park recreational vehicles. Picnic tables (10) are located at this parking area's south-
ern edge, the Snow Lodge (14), and the general store near the Inn (3).
he 2010 Old Faithful Visitor Education Center includes a large bookstore,
ranger-interpreters who answer questions and make geyser predictions, and a museum with a
large working geyser model and dioramas. Movies and ranger lectures take place in the large
auditorium. Note that other wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available in the inn, lodge,
and Snow Lodge.
Across the West Parking Area from the visitor center is a post office, as well as
a clinic, ranger station, and backcountry office. Between the visitor center and the Lodge is a
walk-in center for the Yellowstone Park Foundation.
The name Old Faithful is used in the park to refer to both the village and the geyser. If
you've arranged lodging at Old Faithful, you'll find that there are two faces to this village.
From about nine in the morning to six in the evening there are cars and people everywhere.
But later in the evening, at night, and in the early morning you may find, if not exactly
solitude, at least a delightful opportunity to enjoy this long-famous area in relative quiet.
