Markets & Malls
KL's crowded wet markets and street markets are no place to be pushing a buggy around.
The butchering stalls can also be the stuff of a child's nightmares. But if you have curious
older kids then markets can also be a great opportunity for learning about and tasting new
tropical fruits and veggies.
Some shopping malls go overboard to embrace the family. Publika has a particularly
good selection of shops for kids and parents including ones offering clothing, toys, crafts
and books, as well as a play area and, on Sundays, free bikes to cycle around the complex.
Plays spaces and crèches are available at Megakids in Mid Valley Megamall and Kidzs-
ports & Gym in Bangsar Village.
Older kids and teens will love exploring Sungei Wang Plaza's warren of youth-oriented
outlets. The Tokyo Street section of Pavilion KL and Parkmaya section of Farenheit88 are
also a dream for those into Japanese fashion and comic cultures.
On the ground floor of the annex at Central Market you'll find a stall where you and
your kids can try your hand at painting batik; the same company offers this course at
Kompleks Kraf Kuala Lumpur.
