River of Life
The MRT project is one of the mega-spend projects that are part of the government's Eco-
nomic Transformation Programme to make Malaysia a high income nation by 2020.
Another is the River of Life plan which will restore the Klang River from a polluted sink-
hole into a clean and liveable waterfront with parks and other beautification efforts. One
of the first small components on this project has been the pedestrianisation of Medan Pas-
ar and the efforts to highlight the built heritage of the part of the city where KL was first
established.
