Along the road from Teluk Bahang to Batu Ferringhi is this oasis of tropical, fra-
grant fecundity of more than 500 species of flora, with an emphasis on spices. Ferns, bam-
boo, ginger and heliconias are among the lush vegetation and you might spot a giant mon-
itor lizard or two. The restaurant here, Tree Monkey, is also excellent and the garden also

. To get here, take bus 101 towards Te-
luk Bahang and ask to get off at the Spice Garden (RM2). There's a beautiful roadside
white-sand beach just across from the gardens.

About 2km south of Teluk Bahang
is this 10-hectare hillside farm, which cultivates more than 250 types of tropical and sub-
tropical fruit trees, native and hybrid. Its one-hour tours include fruit tastings and a glass
of fresh juice.
