Opened as a second site by a popular hostel in Singapore, this location shares the same
high standards of cleanliness and amenities (hang-out lounges, free movies and internet)
but the spare modern style of concrete and tile is a little out of place in Melaka. Prices go
up 20% on weekends and holidays.

At this
gorgeous restoration project, and its sister property The Stables, the whole house is yours
and both have basic cooking facilities. 45 Lekiu is the more upscale with big old beams,
exposed original brickwork and clean, modern decor; it sleeps up to four people. A
bougainvillea-filled courtyard has an elongated dipping pool and the upper terrace over-
looks Melaka's ancient rooftops.
Work on another restoration project opposite 45 Leiku was well advanced on our last
visit; it promises to be as desirable a residence as its stablemates

Sister property to 45 Leiku, this former stables sleeps two and has louvered, heritage-style
doors, wood floors, period tiles and timber beams. The furnishings and finishing touches
are artistically modern.

The biggest hotel in the Chinatown heritage area with a fabulous location right on the
river. The palatial architecture blends Portuguese/Mediterranean with Malaysian for a res-
ult that's uniquely airy and grand. Rooms are massive with bathrooms fit for a Portuguese
princess and river-view rooms capture the feel of Asia and Venice combined. There's a
rooftop infinity pool that overlooks the river and common areas are strewn with loungable
couches and tons of cushions.
