South of Brickfields across the Klang river are located the Royal Museum (in the old
Istana Negara) and, atop Robson Heights, the spectacular Thean Hou Temple. Bangsar's
major sight is the private contemporary-art gallery attached to Sekeping Tenggiri.

by the Jaffna Sri Lankan community in 1909, Brickfield's major Hindu temple is dedic-
ated to Lord Murgan and the mother goddess Sri Raja Rajeswary. It's marked by an elab-
orate gopuram (gateway), flanked by banana trees and is a riot of colourful Hindu gods
and goddesses inside. One of the temple's major events is the 10-day Mahotchava Festival
held around May with celebrations including processions of the wooden deities.

halese settlers in Brickfields, this is one of KL's major Theravada Buddhist temples.
You'll pass over a half-moonstone to enter the polychromatic main shrine hall which in-
cludes a large reclining Buddha. Meditation classes take place on Monday and Thursday
at 8pm, chanting classes on Tuesday and Friday at 7.30pm. The Friday session is followed
by a dharma talk at 8pm. Classes and longer courses are run on a donation basis. The
temple is a hive of activity around Wesak Day when a massive torchlight parade with
multiple floats starts from here and works its way around the city.

pointment to view landscape architect Ng Seksan's superb collection of Malaysian con-
temporary art, so large that he's turned over a whole house to store and display it. View
pieces by top talents including Phuan Thai Meng, Samsudin Wahab, Justin Lim and
Rajinder Singh.
