8 RAMADAN MARKETS
Kampung Baru is a great area to visit during Ramadan when street markets offer delicacies prepared specially to
break the daily fast. Just remember not to start eating until after sundown.

(40 Jln Dewan Sultan Sulaiman; noodles RM6.30; 7am-6.30pm; monorail Medan Tuanku) These 'dry'
noodles, topped with a soft boiled egg, minced pork, ikan bilis (small, deep-fried an-
chovies), fried onion and a special spicy chilli sauce, are one of KL's great taste sensa-
tions. They come with a side of clear soup made from potato leaves and egg. If you don't
eat pork, staff do a version topped with mushrooms.
There's also a branch in the EAT food court at Publika.

(Gerak Pak Lang, Jln Raja Muda Musa; meals RM5-10; 24hr; Kampung Baru) If you can't make it to
Kampung Baru for its Saturday pasar malam, head to this excellent barbecued-fish stall,
within a hawker-stall market covered by a zinc roof. Once you've picked your fish off the
grill there's a long buffet of great Malay kampung -style side dishes you can add to it.
