KL FOREST ECO PARK
to Menara KL, an alternative to the shuttle bus is to climb the short and well-labelled
nature trails through the Bukit Nanas Forest Eco Park. This lowland dipterocarp forest re-
serve covering 9.37 hectares was gazetted in 1906, making it the oldest protected piece of
jungle in Malaysia. Explore it alone, or on a free guided tour starting from the entrance to
Menara KL at 11am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm daily and lasting about 45 minutes. By
the time you read this, the new canopy walkway should also be completed. There are good

Built in mock Tudor style and founded in 1884, this
exclusive social club for the KL elite is where the running-and-drinking club, the Hash
House Harriers, kicked off in 1938. Women are still said to be barred from its long bar,
which has a view of the former playing fields.

Chinatown's Muslim population prays at this beautiful onion-domed mosque which
has recently undergone a restoration. Constructed in 1907 at the confluence of the Klang
and Gombak rivers, the mosque is an island of serenity, with airy open pavilions shaded
by palm trees. The designer was British architect AB Hubbock, who sought inspiration
from the Mughal mosques of northern India.
Visitors are welcome outside prayer times, but please dress appropriately and remove
your shoes before entering the mosque.
