mainly caters to coach tours, but it's worth a visit to browse the shops and stalls selling
wood carvings, pewter, basketware, glassware and ceramics; the best section is the Kary-
aneka Boutique stocking items made from batik and Malaysian woven cloth. A few
craftspeople and artists work in the surrounding Art Colony where you can also try your
hand at batik painting. The complex also has a small museum (adult/child RM3/1) .

by artist Emilia Tan and set in a leafy compound a five-minute taxi ride east of the KLCC,
My Batik sells batik print fashions and homewares in an explosion of colours and pat-
terns. There's also a cafe here, you can meet the artists and arrange to take batik painting
courses (from RM50 per person).

arts-and-craft store offers genuine antiques and Malay ethnological items. Only some of
the items are for sale - it's worth popping in for a browse around the treasures, and there
are some affordable, contemporary craft and art pieces among the antiques.

there were huge bookshops that you could spend hours in? Standing against the online-
shopping tide is Kinokuniya, which has an excellent English-language selection alongside
titles in all the other major languages of Malaysia.
