(Jln Alor; mains RM15-30; 5pm-4am; monorail Bukit Bintang) Our favourite place to eat on KL's
busiest food street is this non-touristy Sichuan joint that has a menu only in Chinese (don't
panic, there are pictures and the friendly staff speak English). It's all good, from the chilli
oil fried fish to the gunpowder chicken buried in a pile of mouth-numbing fried chillies.

(Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang; Jln Kampung; meal RM10; 6.30am-12.30pm Tue-Sun; monorail Bukit Bintang) The
official name is Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang, but everyone knows it simply as Imbi Market.
Breakfast is like a party here with all the friendly and curious locals happily recommending
their favourite stalls. We like Sisters Crispy Popiah; Teluk Intan Chee Cheung Fun, where
Amy Ong serves a lovely oyster-and-peanut congee and egg puddings; and Bunn Choon for
the creamy mini egg tarts.
The market is slated to move as the area is developed into the Tun Razak Exchange fin-
ancial district over the next few years.

(cnr Jln Imbi & Jln Barat; dishes RM6; 5pm-midnight; monorail Bukit Bintang) A car park by day turns in-
to a great open-air hawker-stall area by night. All the usual hawker favourites are here: we
enjoyed the dried chilli lajioa pan mee topped with mushrooms and anchovies and the
asam laksa . There's a popular Thai food stall and an aunty and uncle who always have a
long line for their kuih (traditional desserts).
