LGBT
With one of the largest disposable incomes of any demographic, queer New
Yorkers seem to run the city, from the fashion runways and major music labels,
to Wall Street downtown. And now that same-sex couples can say 'I Do', it's
never been more 'in' to be 'out'.
Weekdays are the New Weekend
In NYC, any night of the week is fair game to paint the town rouge - especially for the gay
community. Wednesdays and Thursdays roar with a steady stream of parties and locals love
raging on Sundays (especially in summer).
On the Pulse
There are tons of websites dedicated to the city's LGBT scene. Check out what's happening
around town by clicking onto Next Magazine ( www.nextmagazine.com ) or Get Out! ( getout-
mag.com ) .
Beware the Haters
Much to the shock of most New Yorkers, 2013 saw a spike in gay hate crimes in the city,
from verbal assaults to the fatal shooting of a young man in Greenwich Village. While
NYC remains one of the world's gayest cities, caution is always recommended, especially
when leaving bars and clubs at night.
