Village Vibe
The Walk
Of all the neighborhoods in New York City, the West Village is easily the most walkable,
its cobbled corners straying from the signature gridiron that unfurls across the rest of the is-
land. An afternoon stroll is not to be missed; hidden landmarks and quaint cafes abound.
Start Commerce St; 1 to Christopher St-Sheridan Sq, 1 to Houston St
Finish Washington Sq Park; A/C/E, B/D/F/M to W 4th St
Length 1 mile; one hour
Take a Break
There are perhaps more cafes per acreage in the West Village than anywhere else in the
world. Pause at any point during your stroll to slurp a latte street-side and enjoy the color-
ful crew of passing pedestrians: students, hipsters, moneyed professionals and celebrities
hiding behind oversized sunglasses.
