In-Depth Information
The Penrose brings a much-needed dose of cool to the Upper East Side, with craft beers,
vintage mirrors, floral wallpaper, reclaimed wood details and friendly bartenders. There's
Duvel and Murphy's on draft, a decent selection of Irish whiskeys (no surprise, given the
owners hail from Cork) and plenty of good pub grub to boot. (

25 Vinus and Marc

Red walls, vintage fixtures and a long dark wood bar set a decadent stage at Vinus and
Marc. Cocktails range from the elegantly creative - try the spicy Baby Vamp (tequila,
mescal, strawberry and habandero bitters) - to Prohibition-era classics like the Scofflaw
(Rye whiskey, dry vermouth and housemade grenadine).
Solid bistro fare includes mussels, shrimp and grits, and a succulent Angus beef tender-
loin sandwich. (

26 Drunken Munkey
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
Playful Drunken Munkey channels colonial-era Bombay with its yesteryear wallpaper,
cricket ball door handles and jauntily attired waitstaff. The monkey chandeliers may be
pure whimsy, but the cocktails and sharing-sized curries are serious business. Gin, not sur-
prisingly, is the drink of choice. Try the Bramble, with Bombay gin, blackberry liqueur,
fresh lemon juice and blackberries. (338 E 92nd St, btwn First & Second Aves;
