10 Tanoshi $$$
SUSHI
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
It's not easy to snag one of the ten stools at this small, humble, wildly popular sushi spot,
but boy is it worth it. From the Hokkaido scallops and Atlantic shad, to the seared salmon
belly and mouth-watering uni (sea urchin), everything is obscenely fresh. Only sushi is on
offer and only omakase , the chef's selection of whatever is particularly outstanding that
day. It's BYO beer, sake or what-not. Book well in advance. (

In Search of Cheap Eats
The Upper East Side is ground zero for all things luxurious, especially the area that covers the blocks from 60th to
86th Sts between Park and Fifth Aves. As a general rule, if you're looking for eating and drinking spots that are
easier on the wallet, head east of Lexington Ave. First, Second and Third Aves are lined with less pricey neighbor-
hood spots.

What was once an ironworks is now a Brit-inspired gastropub peddling first-rate beer-
battered fish and chips, bangers and mash, lamb and rosemary pie and other comfort clas-
sics from across the pond. If the weather is on your side, grab a table on the enclosed court-
yard patio. (
