Getting There
Subway The sole subway lines here are the 4/5/6, which travel north and south on Lexington Ave.
Bus The M1, M2, M3 and M4 buses make the scenic drive down Fifth Ave along the eastern edge of Central
Park. The M15 is handy for getting around the far east side.
The Sights in a Day
A day on the Upper East Side can easily be devoted to the Big Apple's clutch
of world-class museums - it's a great neighborhood to explore on days with
unfavorable weather. Start at the Metropolitan Museum of Art ( Click here ) , the moth-
ership of museums. You could very well spend the entire day here, but its best to cut your-
self off after two hours if you're going to fit in the opulent Frick Collection ( Click here )
and the stunning Neue Galerie ( Click here ) .
Join the 'ladies who lunch' crowd with a late bite at Via Quadronno ( Click
here ) or Café Sabarsky ( Click here ) , then recaffeinate at Sant Ambroeus (
Click here ) before filling the afternoon with a medley of contemporary wonders, starting
at the Guggenheim Museum ( Click here ) and finishing at the Whitney Museum of
American Art ( Click here ) .
Return to the Met for a round of pre-dinner drinks at the Metropolitan Museum
Roof Garden Café & Martini Bar ( Click here ) , then soak up the alcohol at
Brit-cool James Wood Foundry ( Click here ) . End the night with laughs at Comic Strip
Live ( Click here ) or (if it's Monday) jazz with Woody Allen at Café Carlyle ( Click here
).
